Off Spec & Alts
Are you capable of playing your Off Spec as well as your Main Spec?
Yes. Arcane used to be my main spec in T11 and T12. I started playing fire as of patch 4.3 in which it became the better spec.
Would you be willing to reroll to your Off Spec if the guild needs you to?
Yes, even though fire does nice damage when 'all stars aline', arcane would be suitable for fights where there's more burst damage needed. I would say Spine hc is such a fight. I have no trouble or objections playing arcane.
Any other characters do you play regularly?
I play several characters: frost dk (Arteus; EU-Kor'Gall), survival hunter (Badmuts; EU-Ravencrest), balance druid (Karnivale; EU-Kor'Gall), shadow priest (Lazypants; EU-Kor'Gall), holy paladin (Paddepoel; EU-Kor'Gall). These character i play as an alt most is my hunter.
Player info and Hardware
Age:
25
Nationality:
Dutch
What hobbies do you have besides gaming?
I play squash on a regular basis and tend to watch a lot of movies. Besides my hobbies i go to school during the day (studying an ICT related subject) and work at night as a manager of a distribution center for a newspaper publisher.
How is your standard of English (both written and spoken)?
I would say, it is not bad. I tend to focus a lot on my pronounciation and spelling. As English is not my primary language, i do make mistakes though :)
Can you use Ventrilo?
Yes
Do you have a microphone?
Yes
Do you find it difficult to use Ventrilo to communicate with the raid? If so, why?
No, I'm not afraid of speaking on Ventrilo. If I feel I want to say something, I will.
What is your current PC setup like (CPU, RAM, graphics card and OS)?
I just recently purchased a new computer: Core i5 2500K, 8GB DDR3, 1GB Nvidia Geforce GTX560 Ti, Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit
How is the quality of you connection to the servers?
The quality of the connection to the server is excellent. I'm usually playing with 24ms home and 24ms world.
Attendance
Which days and at what times are you available to raid?
I am available for all the regular raidnights. I might be unavailable occasionally on sunday nights due to family obligations (my sister and I are very close, so we schedule dinner once a month on sunday nights)
Anything you can think of that will interfere with attending raids in the near future?
No, as far as I can tell, there won't be anything interfering with attending the raids.
Experience
A detailed description of your past raiding experience. Go as far back as you can.
I've started playing WoW 15 months ago as a hunter on Kor'Gall. A friend of mine got me playing the game, and I quickyl got addicted to it. When reaching level 55 I made a DK, which was to be my main for several months. In february 2011, I started leveling a mage (Badmuts), and loved it from the start. I got into a couple of guilds until I eventually got into Soul Collectors where I got my first raid experience. Soul Collectors was a highly social guild, but a couple of people were, like me, interested in raiding. So me and a friend, started setting up raidnights. My first kill was Magmaw in Blackwing Descent. We got it down in about 30 tries, remember it was a social guild :). I felt unbelievable epic after downing that boss. After about a month my friend left the guild, so i ended up leading the raids by myself. We downed 6/7 BWD, 4/4 BoT and 2/2 TofW, all on normal mode.
We started having more trouble downing bosses, because a lot of people left the guild, in search for a better raiding guild. Attendence issues got out of hand, until everyone of the core team had left. I did all in my power to keep players staying in the guild, but it didnt work out. I myself left the guild, also in search for a more raid focussed guild. I got into a guild called Fire in my new shoes, also on Kor'Gall. They had heard about me and wanted me in their core team. I enjoyed being in a better raiding guild, but it turned out not to be as good as i was hoping for. We cleared 6/7 in Firelands, but couldn't get Ragnaros downed. As I felt we had other players in who kept making the same mistakes, but still got invited, i got frustrated over time. As Fire in my new shoes also had trouble filling the spots, i found myself switching characters to fill necessary roles. I didn't play my mage, but was healing on my paladin most of the time or playing my hunter. After 3 months of failing on Ragnaros, I was invited by a guild called Dark Substance. They cleared 6/7 hc in Firelands, so I was really excited getting into that guild. Unfortunately they lost most of their core team due to inactivity, so we ended up not raiding for 4 weeks in Dragon Soul. Now we only schedule 1 night a week, in which we kill Morchok on heroic, the rest on normal. As we have a lot of skilled players, we downed 7/7 quite easily in the second week of patch 4.3 being released.
Any favourite raid fights? Why do you like that/those particular fights?
As weird as it may seem, when i think about raiding Chimaeron always pops in my mind. Not due to it being a difficult fight, but because it was a fight we (Soul Collectors) were wiping on a lot. When we finally got it down, it was like Paragon killing Ragnaros on hc mode! We were all really happy, and felt like gods for a night :) I do say, I prefer Firelands to Dragon Soul, whereas I find the fights in Dragon Soul not particulary challenging. I enjoy a challenge as the reward for downing a difficult boss is greater to downing an easy boss
Any noteworthy PvP Experience?
No, not noteworthy.
Previous Guilds
What are your previous guilds and what were your reasons for leaving them?
Soul Collectors: a social guild without a real raidteam that fell apart.
Fire in my new shoes: not being able to make any progress. Core players left, so we ended up inviting new players all the time. After 3 months of attempts on Ragnaros normal mode, we still had players in who were making the same mistakes over and over. I got frustrated and left.
Dark Substance: my current guild. We have a lot of skilled players, but due to real life issues, we can only schedule a raid once a week. Even though we had raids scheduled, we didn't raid for 4 weeks in the current tier. According to my GM, we're not gonna raid more due to those real life issues.
Raid Performance and Class Knowledge
What are your personal preference in terms of spec and raidrole?
As a mage, my role in the raid is 100% dps. I do not mind to fulfill a specific role to the raid, not even if that means, I will lack dps of it. On Bethilac hc it was my job to intercept the exploding adds, nor did i mind having to go up in the air on Alysrazor while playing with Dark Substance. On Ragnaros I was appointed to take the trapps.
Please explain your dps cycle, or if this doesn't apply, your five most used spells:
My normal fire rotation is as follows; i start of by applying Living Bomb to the target, then I cast Flame Orb for extra procs. Afterwards, I cast Scorch to apply Critical Mass, followed by Fireball. I will cast Fireball until I need to re-apply Living Bomb or untill I get a Hot Streak proc. When I get a Hot Streak proc I will cast Pyroblast. This will reward me with another DoT on the target. If there's a large Ignite applied on the target while Living Bomb and the Pyroblast are also applied to the target, I will cast Combustion. Resulting in an extra DoT on the target equally to the sum of all the DoT's present on the target, which will tick every second, for 10 seconds. In the circumstance we're dealing with adds, I will try to apply all the DoT's to the main target and then spread it to all the targets within 12 yards by casting Impact.
What are your current glyphs? Why did you chose to use these glyphs?
Im using the following glyphs:
Prime: Glyph of Fireball (it's my main fillerspell) , Pyroblast (increases my chance of criting my Pyroblast which in turn gives my more chance of getting Ignite) and Molten Armor (no brainer; increases my crit chance by 2%)
Major: Glyph of Blink, Evocation and Dragon's Breath (most important here is Glyph of Evocation, as it rewards me with higher mana regen while casting Evocation, which in turn is more dps. Blink and Dragon's Breath are of situational usage. They don't make much of difference, except for a small potential dps increase by faster movement or being able to interrupt adds on a faster pace.
Minor: Glyph of Conjuring, Arcane Brilliance and Slow Fall (Conjuring because sometimes during a fight I need to conjure new mana food (i.e. Madness of Deathwing). Arcane Brilliance in case I need to re-apply it after a raidmember dies, Slow Fall because of the reagent).
Gear: Which stats do you prioritize and why? Do you have multiple gear sets for different specs? Any resistance gear?
My stat priority is as follows:
Int (as much as possible. This is my best stat, so I will choose Intellect over any other stat) --> hit (17% or 1742 - so i don't miss) -->haste (depending on the raidbuffs (5% spellhaste) and a warlock (Dark Intent 3% haste) present in the group 17% atleast or 25% at max. 25% will reward me with extra ticks on my DoT's) --> crit (after haste this is by far my most important stat. More crit rewards me with more chances to proc Hot Streak and Ignite) --> Mastery (my worst stat. Mastery is the first stat I will reforge off).
I only have one gear set, which I will reforge depending on the buffs in the raid or if I need to go Arcane for a fight. I am trying to get the Cunnin of the Cruel trinket, for fights where there's loads of adds. As far as my knowledge, resistance gear is very situational and is barely if at all, being used these days. I have no resistance gear.
Which forums/resources do you usually read to learn about wow and your class?
I check elitistjerks on a regular basis. Also, i listen a lot to WoW related podcasts. Occasionally, they will give specific information about classes and specs.

Why Icon?
What makes you prefer applying to Icon over other guilds?
There's several reasons why I would apply to Icon over another guild:
First of all, I happen to know Cherrypie. She told me the guild was looking for a mage. As i was planning to change realms anyway, this is one more reason why I should go to Kazzak and specifically apply to Icon. Mages are quite common and therefor a lot of guilds have a mage in their core team already. The second reason is the guilds progression compared to my own progression. The guild is 2/8 hc, I'm 1/8 hc.
Another reason to apply to Icon is that Icon is a semi-hardcore raiding guild. I have been looking for such a team for a long time. As said, I was considering leaving the realm because Kor'Gall has gone really quiet. I feel like I'm missing out on WoW experience being on such a low populated realm.
For personal gain, I like to improve my English speaking. Being in an all English guild, it will give me the opportunity to finetune my English accent. I would like to improve my English speaking until it becomes second nature.
Do you know anyone in Icon that might vouch for you?
Cherrypie has been a friend since my Soul Collecor days. She switched to Fire in my new shoes when I did.
Why you?
Why should we give you a trial?
Because I'm a friendly guy, mature and always ready to help someone. I like to perform well in a team, whereas I always put teampriority above personal gain. If that means I'm asked to pass on gear because another player and therefor the team will benefit more of it, I'll happily will.

Anything else you want to add?
I love the way Icon protrays itself. The website looks professional and to the point. There has obviously put in a lot of effort into setting this website up, which is really promissing!
