This is a discussion about our strategy for the Socrethar the Eternal encounter, to start off could everyone check out this video https://youtu.be/vYYSI033AGQ (so far this is the only video I have found that is post buff).

First off let's discuss the tactic we are currently using, the stunning the ghosts strat. This tactic is all about the phase transition and has some requirements; the boss must be at or below 50% shortly after the second Dominator dies, there are enough Exert Dominances casts to kill the Construct before the portals change, the raid must be stacked on a single point (this is due to how the ghosts spawn and travel based the fixated target's positioning) and finally that the adds are interrupted/gripped and the tank picks them up so they can be passively cleaved. After we transition no one should be touching the boss and everyone must switch to the ghosts including melee, unless they are fixated. During the transition we will need a combo of mass grips, AoE stuns, AoE slows, knock backs etc. Once the ghosts are all dead we then go back on the boss, and reposition him. After we start the second phase 2 we just nuke the boss and make sure he dies before the construct does.

Pros of this strat are that it's quick and gets easier as more gear is available.
Cons of this strat are that its heavy in raid responsibly, has a DPS check and is very fragile (in that a single screw up is a wipe)

The second strat is where we nuke the ghosts whenever they spawn then go back on the boss. All this strat requires is that we have heavy burst AoE, as soon as they spawn everyone who can switches to them and then goes back on the boss. The raid can stack more loosely making Gift of the Man'ari easier to deal with. This strategy allows us to transition very easily because at most there will be only one group of ghosts up while we transition making it a lot easier, however will have to transition multiple times. That being said I haven't seen anyone else using this strat.

Pros of this strat are that there is no DPS check on the boss, the raid can be stacked more loosely and the transition is much easier to deal with.
Cons of this strat are it takes longer to kill the boss meaning healers will be lower on mana, requires good burst AoE DPS If anyone has anything to add please do so; let's discuss.

Going in the construct looks kinda easy from this video, he's also doing a crazy amount of DPS. Also the ranged are happily stacked away form the boss.

Yes but their ranged are CCing and killing the adds that their tank is letting through, due to them not being stacked and the fact that he is really infrequently charging or prisoning them. Which actually may be a good way to deal with it, although that involves the ranged watching the ghosts and switching. The construct's job is relatively easy tbh but it isn't when people don't do what they are supposed to like stacking if you want me to deal with them or switching if you don't.

What they seem to be doing is starting off stunning the first wave, stunning some of the second, then just letting the ranged deal with them.

That's pretty much what we were doing, but the ghosts were arriving on us without warning, giving us no time to deal with them. Looking at that video, the ghosts don't ever really get out of control which is where we went wrong.

The tactic we were using was you had me stun them every single wave, and the ranged only switched when 1 or 2 didn't get in the stun which down the lack of stacking which I explained, the ghosts were announced as soon as I knew they were going to be loose which was roughly half way between the portal and the ranged. Unless they were loose at no point did the ranged take care of the ghosts as shown in that video, that being said I'd love to use that tactic

Also whichever tact is easier for Thy the one we should use, since he has a very big part of killing this boss.

*face palm* This isn't about what's easiest for me, my job is rather minor in this fight. I either do large DPS on the boss or deal with the adds. What this was for was so that everyone was on the same page because I can't do my job unless the rest of the raid does theirs, which yesterday was not happening despite me mentioning it every try.

After watching that.. i cant for the life of me remember a time where Ghosts had the charge effect fire on them doing some dmg constantly. This guy lets fire deal with any adds who gets lose down to 60-75% hp before range even switch to them.

And as yesterday, we need more ppl either stacking. or going out with Green debuff in a line sort a way, so ghosts dont spawn random or goes to a side as we did " (Portal) ------range----- melee ----- (Debuffed ppl) "

I dont see 2-4 stunning crystals in this video either, one for each portal? After all some dmg needed to get that shit down.
Well there might have been some fire, but only exactly ontop of ghosts I guess, but that blame also goes to ranged who went closer to ghosts with debuffs, instead of infront of melee.

The Felblaze Residue, the void zone left by Felblaze Charge, was always on the Ghosts unless they spawned awkwardly due to positioning of the fixated target. I like the tactic they are using in which I stun one or maybe two groups then the ranged deal with the rest, because the construct can pull some serious DPS on the boss, all the while I'll keep Felblaze Residue on them at all times

Fibre I'm not sure you really understand how it works mate, Felblaze Residue does next to no dmg to them and any add caught in Fel Prison takes 95% reduced dmg the construct cannot deal with the ghosts permanently it can only group stun them for 40 secs and wait for the DPS to do it. The stun doesn't remove the adds from the fight it just makes it so you don't have to deal with them now. If the raid is stacked on one point them I can trap every single ghost and you can deal with them in phase 1 otherwise it is impossible to trap every single one.

There is some Hotfixes as of July 6, but nothing that would notably efffect the difficulty of the encounter.

Socrethar the Eternal
* Sargerei Dominators should no longer immediately attack nearby players after spawning.
* Soulbound Construct should now be able to be damaged by the Warrior talents Dragon Roar and Siegebreaker.
* Fixed an issue that could cause the encounter to not restart correctly after a wipe.

At least I will hopefully not die to melee attacks anymore.

/Z

With the extra gear we get this reset, it should be fine. Hopefully Fatboss will replace their video and there will be more kill vids up as well
