Guildmaster 441 Posts | I've been playing around my UI, macroes and keybindings for the last week. Still not completely pleased with the setup and I have a hard time getting adjusted to my new keybindings, but getting there slowly. I like having my UI set close to default one for less agony on patch days, but I use a lot of addons to visualize important stuff. Here are some of my fav addons and recent findings: Addons: Elkano's BuffBars - a longtime love of mine, I use it for everything Button Forge - Let's you custom build action bars. Roath Action Bar - Cleans up the default action bar. BossTactics - Let's you make notes and set up tactics ingame. You can download preset modules form wowwiki or make your own tacs. Macroes: #showtooltip Mangle (Bear)
/cast Mangle (Bear)()
/cast !Maul Presets Maul when pressing mangle, I also use this for lacerate and swipe. /target focus
/cast growl A very handy little macro. Let's say you are gonna tank 2 mobs; Cross and Coin and they are set a bit apart. I set coin as my focus and on pull I do an FFF on cross and do a focustaunt on coin without having to change target. #showtooltip Revive

/tellunit target I'm ressing you, don't release! These types of macroes used to require an addon called MacroTalk but not sure if that is the case anymore. |
17 Posts | Ooooh, my OCD just triggered on a whole new level! :D Awesome that you've found something so close to default and having it work for you. :) May I please make two small suggestions, nothing to increase your performance or anything. Purely cosmetic. 1: This for all your buttons on your minimap. 2: Kill the background on Recount. Makes it look a whole lot more awesome, having bars appear downwards as people do damage, heal, dispel, whatevs. And I'm sorry in advance! :D But looks matter :p Call me Shallow Susie, I don't mind ;) |

Making recount transparent and moving one of the action bars I got a lot more screen realestate now. I like! ![]() The map button addon was great, I used sexymap before but never really liked any of the skins. This was perfcet. |

17 Posts | Pretty nice. I've just never understood the massive black bar covering the entire bottom of your screen. It's a like a 5th of your screen you cant see?
Did you make everything yourself?

Yupp, made it all by myself. Think this is the 4th or 5th remake of this UI though. Constantly make small tweaks and try to keep it to a minimum of addons. I use Viewport to adjust the viewable area so the black plates does not cover anything really. :) Suggestions and feedback is always welcome! But no, no pink or flowerz! :P Ps. Doc, is it possible to split this thread? Don't want to hi-jack yours! :) Ds. |

17 Posts | Aaaw Cowl, what do you have against pink and flowerz? :p You should then be happy to know that I spent the entire day yesterday creating new panels for kgpanels and none of them include flowers. And they are black... Mostly... (Okay, I sneaked in a few pink butterflies and some small hearts! So shoot me! :p)
Alright a few suggestions :)
1:
If the black bar of death works for you, I'll leave it at that. But! You could scale it down. You have 9 lines of Omen and 9 lines of chat. It's perhaps a bit overkill. You can remove at least one of your actionbars, put it out to one side and make it only appear on mouseover. Then you can put all the stuff you don't use that often out there, like your HS, mounts, rarely used spells and whatnot. Which also mean you could get rid of Necrosis. That means you can make room for your castbar in the same small box as all your buttons. Which leads me to...
2:
Unconfigured Quartz. You seem to be using Concave Light as texture all around. Not sure it's excatly that one, but you at least have the same textures on all bars... Besides Quartz :D Configure Quartz to use the same as the rest. And perhaps fiddle a little with the colors. Oooh, and that brings me to...
3:
Your colors. You have 3 different shades of blue. On your buff bars, your manabar and then Sexymap. Perhaps try to make them match. If you shaded Quartz in the same blue color as you would find for the rest, it would make for a really nice overall look. You could also use custom coloring for your health bars, to make things match. I know it's small things, but sorry, it's stuff like that I notice :) Aaaand that brings me to...

Sexymap... Personally, I don't like it. But that dosen't mean you should just get rid of it. It's just... It looks kinda odd. You have a pretty clean style, no flashy colors, no artwork, nothing of the sort. Very clean and very pleasing to the eye. But then you look at the corner and there is this huge blue StarCraft/Tribal/Stargate thingy flashing at you. Is it possible to change the opacity of the artwork on Sexymap?
5:
Do you use the manabar on your Pet and ToT frame? I've never used it, it wasent really valuable information to me. If you don't, perhaps removing them would make it match the rest of the UI more. And perhaps moving you Petframe to be symmetrical with ToT. Small stuff, I know ;)
6:
Does EBB have the option to filter certain buffs? Like, in the picture you have the "Life Tap" buff 2 places. If you want to have your important buffs in the middle of the screen where you can't miss them, is there a reason for having them displayed in the top corner aswell? You could also remove the background, so EBB looked less "boxy"...

I guess that mistake is gonna haunt me forever ... gah But you are right, while the addon is great in terms of visuals and used by a lot of pro's, I cannot live with the horrible sound effects^^ |

I think it makes it easier on the eye to read chat and basically makes the whole UI feel more organized. I hate loads of free-floating addons, but that's me. :)
Good points though! I could probably shrink it somewhat if I get rid of one row of actionbars. Something to fiddle with when I get home. \o/2:

Just kept it that way because it looked kinda silly having only a big HP bar there.

The bars in the middle though are another addon (NeedToKnow or ButtonTimers, can't remember which). I use it for my rotation to keep track of the cooldowns/uptime of my DoTs. EBB needs to be configured more though. My intention is to just use it for long-time raidbuffs, tracking etc.

17 Posts | Well then, after 2 days very hard work (Actually just sitting on my behind moving like 7 muscles in total), I've finished yet another UI! :D So far I can't really see anything that looks out of place or really odd, but that may just be because I've stared myself blind at it. So a fresh pair of eyes would be a great help. :) Idleling at tha bank: ![]() Not so idle... Everything showing! It's a long list of stuff around, if you are wondering about anything just ask :D ![]() No flowers this time!! |
